Membership of OAM is available to all those who are eligible to access the Stoma Appliance Scheme (SAS) i.e. people who have undergone surgery resulting in a colostomy, ileostomy or urostomy and hold a valid Medicare card, DVA card or a passport from New Zealand or the Republic of Ireland.

An assessment of eligibility and application form must be completed by a healthcare practitioner. This is usually done as part of the patient education and post-operative procedures in hospital.
Membership fees are paid annually by 30th June each year and are transferrable between stoma associations if a member wants to access their supplies from a different association.
